International conference Russian Supercomputing Days 2018

Russian Supercomputing Days is a key Russian supercomputer conference with international participation that annually gathers in Moscow the leading scientists and experts in high-performance computing and computer science. This year, the staff of the International Laboratory for Supercomputer Atomistic Modelling and Multi-scale Analysis took part in the conference (Nikolay Kondratyuk, Vsevolod Nikolskiy, Genri Norman, Alexander Semenov, Alexey Timofeev and Mikhail Khalilov).

The laboratory staff presented the following reports:

  • Deploying Elbrus VLIW CPU ecosystem for materials science calculations: performance and problems. Vladimir Stegailov and Alexey Timofeev
  • Hybrid codes for atomistic simulations on the Desmos supercomputer: GPU-acceleration, scalability and parallel I/O. Nikolay Kondratyuk, Grigory Smirnov and Vladimir Stegailov
  • Quantum simulators in problems of quantum chemistry and materials science. A. Lankin, G. Norman, V. Stegailov
At the RSD-2018 conference, the new 29th version of the Top-50 list of the most performant supercomputers in Russia and the CIS countries was traditionally presented. The hybrid supercomputer “Desmos”, which is developed by the staff of the SAMMA laboratory together with colleagues from JIHT RAS, was ranked 45th in the rating. Desmos supercomputer is the first system in the Top50 list, based on the Russian interconnect “Angara” manufactured by JSC NICEVT.
